Dan is lamer than FDR's legs. Too soon?

This is for any RPG related out-of-character stuff like rules discussions, character ideas, loot wishlists, etc. If it's about game mechanics in any way, it goes here.

The Frito Brandito can't miss two weeks in a row, but I will probably be arriving a tad late this week (not past 8:30, but definitely past 7:30). Since I was out, Sam's ever-useful recap of our ever-complicated adventures would be handier than ever... and I'll miss it. Any chance the notes could be posted, or a water-cooler thread could get started? I don't want to slow things down when I show up in the middle of it.

Veni vidi vici. 'Nuf said.

But seriously, here is what happened (as much as I can remember): We calmed things down in the city and managed to not get in a fight with Maddoc. Wrenn called out Pinter for his shenanigans and threw a bit of a bitch fit at him. Frida discovered that we can, in fact, get home, but it will require a mega dose of energy to do it (like 1.21 gigawatts mega). To do this it looks like we are going to have to trap a God in the shards and somehow harness that power. We still aren't really sure how to do that. We also discovered that Shar happens to be hanging out in a cemetery near The City, so we have an easy access God when we need one. Pinter became obsessed with saving everyone in The City and somehow taking them all back to the Light World with us, while Wrenn made it very clear that he doesn't give a crap about anyone or anything here in the Dark World. Wrenn even went so far as to try to prove to the people of The City that their god was false with logic and science, but Hugh and Arora intervened and stopped him.

No combat, all flavor, pure awesomeness.

Anyone else have anything they want to throw in?

We found out that some gods have survived, but they are definitely not the all-powerful beings they were before the cataclysm. So capturing a god isn't as crazy as it might once have been.

Pinter had a secret meeting with Hasten in which he gave him the shard they got from the evil storm dude.

Maddoc asked the whole group to help out around town (as all citizens are required to do). So here's what everyone did to help:
- Arora hung out with her grandkids.
- Wrenn contemplated on the edge of madness
- Pinter and Frida created a ritual to re-bond the group's tethers to the light world
- Brandis drank
- Hugh worked his ass off, doing 6 times the labor for everyone else!

so like spoilers yo.

We began last week after the combat in the temple of the priests of Deis (spell?). Wrenn and Pinter had been itching to get a look at the mechanism powering the shield that protected the city. Wrenn created a distraction while Pinter created a magic door to enter the room. Inside he saw the High priest of Deis performing some ritual to capture Solace in order to power the shield (shield had been gradually weakening as the Weave in the Dark world deteriorated). Pinter tried to reason with the priests to no avail and then left to gather the other quorum members to rescue Solace. During this time Pinter, under the advisement of Brandis, started a riot to act as a distraction while the rescue was performed. The quorum is assembled and the high priest is dispatched swiftly. Just as combat finished, Maddoc, the mayor of the town, arrives on the scene demanding to know whats happened. Pinter leaves the scene immediately to help calm the riot. After a brief but truthful explanation of the heroes' actions, all but Hugh, Wrenn, and Solace leave the scene of the fight to aid in calming the riot. Arora diplomacy's, Pinter uses magic to prevent destruction of life and property, and Brandis returns to the Bar where the riot began to drink with the androgynous mage, exclaiming "These people will all be dead in five years anyway." Wrenn and Hugh check to make sure Solace is well, and then, with the help of one of the priests who is lovingly nicknamed "the snitch", manage to satisfy Maddoc that the recently expired High Priest is the one to be blamed for all the commotion.

Once everything is settled down, the quorum returns to their room to discuss what our next course of action should be. During this time Wrenn lets loose on Pinter for starting a riot and other such shenanigans, and the group discusses the pros and cons using riots in heroic endeavors. Pinter is absolved for the most part as he was acting in the interest of Solace and the riot seemed expedient at the time. After the drama Frita announces that she has devised a method for returning to the light world by repairing our severed "tethers." This will require an immense amount of energy. Using the crystal shards to capture a god is debated. Wrenn is partial to harnessing the corrupted chaotic energy that is displacing the Weave in this world as a source of energy. Frita will have no part in using it, but Wrenn persists. A plan is put forth to research how to use the shards to capture a god.

Pinter spends time working with Frita finalizing her ritual to get us back to light world. He is determined not to leave dark world until he has managed to take The City and its inhabitants to the light world if it is possible to do so. With this in mind he gives his shard to Hasten in the event that he'll be staying behind. Wrenn spends time researching the corrupted chaos. Hasten sees what he's doing and joins him in his endeavor for safety reasons. Arora spends time with Maddoc helping to govern the City, helping to class issues and such. Brandis went to the Bar and drank some more with the androgynous mage. Potential candidate for Wife of Brandis if our exit plan doesn't go smoothly? Hugh spends time doing the group's share of the required labor for The City. He returns at the end of the six days to discover that no one has worked on the problem of actually using the shards to capture a god. He is dismayed.

The group is summoned by Maddoc and the new High Priest. They want all the cards on the table. We're obviously more than we appear to be, they want to know what our intentions are. We spill the beans as to us being from another world, plan to get back, etc. It looks like they'd really like it if we could spare some god-juice to keep the city's shield up for when the end-of-the-world happens. They are aware of two gods in the nearby area. Shar and the god of time who attacked us with Angels in the light world. Shar is closer and we plan to go and get her. It is mentioned that we had met the Maddoc who founded their city. They look doubtful. Wrenn is about to destroy their religion with logic, etc. but the High priest leaves the meeting. Arora and Hugh spill remaining beans to Maddoc of just who we are etc., Exodus knife is brought out as a visual aid.

The issue of being able to use the crystal shards to capture a god is hand waved away. We figured it out during the six days.

And that's what happened last week on Thursday Knights
