Cronos Arrow

This is for any RPG related out-of-character stuff like rules discussions, character ideas, loot wishlists, etc. If it's about game mechanics in any way, it goes here.

So Greg I'm dying to know, what does this arrow do mechanically?

Clearly it makes you crazy.

Or was that a result of the cataclysm?

I thought it was pretty clear. It occasionally goes backwards and always comes back to your belt after being shot. Plus it's got a red tip so the arrow goes faster. :)

I think it would be cool if it made one of those time-bomb zones Greg's been using.

Hugh shoots the arrow, and sets a zone. At the end of his next turn, any creatures in the zone are the target of a special, powerful attack. Could be cool!

Also, Hugh gains concordance for... um... shooting more arrows?

I was thinking that mechanically it could work as a piece of magical ammunition that was reusable. The rules for using magical ammo have you use the enhancement bonus on the arrow, and you use the properties of the arrow as well as any properties or critical effects that your weapon may have. So at it's most bland, the Cronos Arrow could just be a +6 arrow that was reusable as one of it's properties. It would effectively up Hugh's enhancement bonus to +6 as well as displaying the properties it has already shown.

As far as other properties it might possess... I think that magical ammunition is balanced around being very potent but very expensive, you wouldn't be using them for every attack. If made into static bonuses, most of the properties they have would be very overpowered compared to what is available on other magical weapons. For example, Dual Arrow has you roll twice attacks you make with it. Making them into encounter or daily powers might work.

Anyways, just brainstorming.

You dare question the authority of the omnipotent Greg and infer that he does not yet have a plan for the mechanics of the arrow? Heathen!

Really though, I am intrigued by what the mechanics of it will be...

Of course thinking about it some more, it could be some wondrous item type thing with no real combat applications, just flavor. That could open it up for doing all sorts of crazy things. I'm kinda like a kid before Christmas right now. :)
